Strengthening Vocational education connect Vietnam – Denmark

On December 11, 2019, in Yen Bai province, the Directorate of Vocational Education & Training (DVET) in collaboration with the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, the Ministry of Children and Education of Denmark organized Phase 2 of the Project on Vocational Education Development - Danish - Vietnamese Cooperation.

Accordingly, the objectives of the Phase 2 project will be to promote cooperation, exchange of teachers and vocational education management officials (MOET) between Vietnam and Denmark. Links between businesses and schools have long been a concern of the Government. The project also promotes close links between schools, authorities and businesses; strengthening autonomy and promoting vocational education institution governance; strengthen the capacity of officials and teachers on development and change management in vocational education. In the coming time, the project will support 12 colleges with 3 vocational training, which are Graphic Design, Interior and Food.

 
Connecting vocational education with businesses is a key solution to innovating and improving the quality of vocational education in the coming period, so the results and experience of the Project will be an important basis for policy recommendations and solutions to promote enterprises' participation in vocational education.

Pilot local vocational skill councils established under the project are considered an effective mechanism for cooperation between schools, businesses, managers and other stakeholders.

Experience from the Phase 1 project shows that, over time, it is difficult to retain the interest of private enterprises without the initiative and activeness of the school as well as no close coordination mechanism. effectively and ensure the principle of mutual benefit in cooperation, so the phase 2 project will focus on this issue.

After the project kick-off, international and national experts chaired the Workshop on Local Skills Council at 2 participating schools, Yen Bai Vocational College and Phu Tho Food College. The Councils are guided on the process and tools of the Council and review and develop a training program based on DACUM method to adjust the current training program of the school to meet the requirements of the business. and agree with enterprises on the content of training at schools and enterprises.

The seminar is the opening activity for a series of seminars on the Council of local occupational skills held from December 9 to 12, 2019 at 8 new schools participating in the Phase 2 project.
