Influence of Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) with labour relationship in Vietn

Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) is the most ambitious and complete one that EU has ever signed with such a developing country as Vietnam. The agreement EVFTA introduces both opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese government as well as enterprises now.

According to Mrs. Tran Thi Lan Anh - (Deputy General Secretary of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), also Director of Bureau for Employers' Activities at the conference about the influence of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on labour relationship in Vietnam which was held on December 26th, 2017 in Hanoi.

Mrs. Tran Thi Lan Anh emphasized: "After the EVFTA was signed and enforced, Vietnam's commodities had a better chance of reaching the market, including footwear, textiles, seafood, agro-forestry products, furniture, etc,. This creates a great market opportunity and employment for Vietnam. "

                                                                

Dr. Dao Quang Vinh - Director of Science Labour and Society Institute shows the chances and challenges towards enterprises in Vietnam.

 

Besides, Dr. Dao Quang Vinh -  Director of Science Labour and Society Institute also points out the challenges towards enterprises that trained employees rate is low, increases slowly, unsuitable mechanism; labour efficiency is low, improves slowly; number of uncompetitive labour is high, employees are in short of many necessary labour skills.

 

                                    The general view of the conference

 

The conference occurred excitingly with the attendance of the representativess of Vietnam enterprise associations. They discuss about how to improve labour efficiency, enhance the compliance of labour commitment, develop stably, motivate social responsibility, increase the enterprise competitiveness.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Ba Lam, the representatives of International Labour Organization (ILO) also made a commitment to supporting Vietnam’s enterprise with ILO practical projects with target to improve labour management system, create labour union network, human resource club, support program for employment training center, utilizing ILO’s available resources to support enterprises the best.

 

The conference is the forum to research about future influence of the  new generation free trade agreement (EVFTA) on enterprises in Vietnam. This is the chance to recognize, assess the influence factors on labour relationship among enterprises. Therefrom, VCCI makes proposals so that enterprises ultilize opportunities better, overcome challenges which result from Labour commitment in Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement. It also helps enterprise community increase competitiveness, participate better in global supply chain as well as in the international economy affiliation process. The conference helps set the first platform for VCCI to give out support programs for enterprises to get the best benefits from Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement.
